Open Secret

September 28, 2007

On September 6th Israel launched secret air strikes against Syria. Or did they? Over three weeks later none of the governments reportedly involved, Israel, the U.S. or Syria, have officially confirmed the action, much less the details. Keith Richburg, foreign editor of The Washington Post, explains how hard it is to report on a secret.

may I remind you "kids" that you work for National Public Radio and that maybe, just maybe we would like to hear the President of the United States despite your objections of who is doing the interviewing

You are funded by taxpayers and donations. Get a job with Fox or NBC and then you make those judgements.

For now, your arrogance and self-importance is not appreciated by this listner. So you proved you can stand up to the White House. Well, bully for you.

Can you spell public? No donations from me this year.

Actually, On The Media folks ("kids") don't work for NPR. The show is a production of WNYC in New York. And stations don't get much funding from taxpayers these days.

Billy, you are correct, but Neal's comment is referring to the interview that OTM did with Ellen Weiss, THE VP OF NEWS FOR NPR. So the comment, while perhaps not as clear as it could be, is actually correct. But all this is associated with the wrong stoty anyway.
