In this story, you cited the case of a Town Meeting where a participant asked if John McCain had ever called his wife, in public, a 4-letter word beginning with the letter C. McCain didn't answer. If this is false, you're negligent in not saying so (and thereby are perpetuating an internet rumor). If this is true, I think you owe your listeners the fact that it is true.

You can't just raise an incendiary issue like this in passing without giving the background.

While I am no McCain supporter, the issue of what he may or may not have said to his wife is entirely irrelevant. So, he may have once been intemperate with his wife in a fit of pique. How is this an incendiary matter? We already know he has a temper.

What is his platform? That is what must be judged more critically.
