The Twitter Revolution

April 17, 2009

When 10,000 Moldovans filled the streets in protest last week, it was characterized as the ‘Twitter revolution.’ But now that the dust has cleared, what role did Twitter really play? And was it a revolution? Ethan Zuckerman, a fellow at Harvard’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society, tells the tale of the tweets.

It's crazy how this whole twitter era started just yesterday and it has already caused so much controversy all over the world. This is showing how much the internet has control over the lives of people. The internet should not be able to cause a riot in the streets or bring so much choas among people. We really have to learn to depict the real from the fake.

Whoa! I missed this segment entirely, though just yesterday on Facebook I put this recollected one as my favorite quote and response:

"The Bakuninists told the people not to vote in the elections then ran in them themseles and won. This is exactly how not to have a revolution." Engels

To which I add, "Correct! Why have a revolt when one gets what one wants without the bloodshed?"
